Please review this information before proceeding to the Diatonic Harmony app for Bass

The following screenshots explain how to use the Diatonic Harmony app. The purpose of this application is to provide the bass student with a resource for studying the diatonic harmony scheme in the most common key centers. There are several features contained within this application. These features are:

  • Display of the Diatonic Harmony scheme for each selected key
  • Display of all Modes for each selected key
  • Display of all Triads for each selected key
  • Display of all Seventh Chords for each selected key
The application uses both the piano keyboard and the bass fingerboard to help explain the concept of Diatonic Harmony
Step 1 - Select a Key Center - By selecting from the Order of Sharps or the Order of Flats, you select a Diatonic Key center.

Step 2 - Select the "Modes" button, then select each Mode in the Key Center - Selecting the "Modes" button will display the names of each mode in the key center. Select each individual mode to view the notes in the mode on the bass and the keyboard. Click on the note dots to hear the notes.

Step 3 - Select the "Triads" button, then select each Triad in the Key Center - Selecting the "Triads" button will display the notes and the chord quality of each triad in the key center. Select each individual triad to view the notes in the triad on the bass and the keyboard. Click on the note dots to hear the notes.

Step 4 - Select the "Seventh Chords" button, then select each Seventh Chord in the Key Center - Selecting the "Seventh Chords" button will display the notes and the chord quality of each chord in the key center. Select each individual chord to view the notes in that chord on the bass and the keyboard. Click on the note dots to hear the notes.
